Friends of the Wall

Radio feature

To be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 this summer as part of the New Storytellers series, I recently produced this short feature about a small group of bereaved volunteers – the ‘Friends of the Wall’ – who look after the National Covid Memorial Wall, a grassroots memorial that sits directly opposite the Houses of Parliament. They’ve assembled at the wall every Friday for the last three years, painting and repainting its quarter of a million red hearts.

Software/hardware used: Descript, Audition, Squadcast, Zoom H5, Shure SM57.

London Lost & Sound

Current affairs podcast episode

I produced the third episode of London Lost & Sound, a forthcoming podcast series about forgotten stories, hidden gems, and unsung heroes across the capital. Episode 3, The BBQ Battles, investigates the disappearance of some much-loved public barbecues in one London park, and the people fighting to get them back. Roles: interviewing, scripting, editing, sound design, mixing, and loudness matching, writing copy for promotion, logo design.

Software/hardware used: Descript, Audition, Squadcast, Logic Pro, Zoom H5.

Switchboard

Weekly current affairs podcast

I produced Series 4 of Switchboard - the most popular news & current affairs podcast in Cambridge - which has a five-star rating on Spotify, etc. I pitched, produced, presented, edited, researched, scripted, narrated, interviewed, sound designed, distributed, and promoted each episode with teaser videos, as well as designing the logo.

Software/hardware used: Descript, Audition, Squadcast, Zoom H4n Pro.

BBC Radio Newsroom

Simulated newsroom environment

I receive training every week from BBC radio producers on how to produce and present live news shows in the style of BBC Radio 4, as part of my MA in Audio, Radio & Podcasting at Goldsmiths. This includes producing and presenting bulletins, two-ways, packages, and full shows. I produced this short montage on David Cameron’s return to frontline politics in late 2023.

Software/hardware used: Studio mixing desks (inc. self-op), Audition, Zoom H5.

Defining Passions on CAM FM

Eight-part live radio show

I pitched, produced, presented, promoted (via social media) and self-op broadcasted an eight-part series, live on CAM FM - featuring an interview with BBC Political Editor, Chris Mason. I interviewed guests about their ‘defining passions’, interspersed with related music, in hour-long episodes. I was also an Executive Producer (Head of Speech) at the station, co-ordinating the production of documentaries & dramas.

Software/hardware used: Self-op mixing desks.
